On a quiet Paris street, nestled amongst traditional buildings of white, grey and ecru brick, resides an unusual neighbour. It’s a basketball court. But this court is not like others you’ve seen – it’s confident and brash. A work of art. The project is a partnership between Nike, fashion label Pigalle and creative directors Ill-Studio. The colourful court is located directly across the street from the Pigalle Basketball store. “Through this new court, we wish to explore the relationship between sport, art and culture and its emergence as a powerful socio-cultural indicator of a period in time,” said the team. The gradations of plum, tangerine and blue are in sharp contrast to the surrounding architecture’s earthy palette –creating an urban oasis. C’est magnifique!
