The national flag of Ukraine has been around since 1848. The simple design consists of two horizontal bands of equal size. The top blue band represents the sky and the bottom yellow band the golden wheat fields found throughout the country. The colour blue suggests stability and calm, whereas yellow boasts joy and energy. During Soviet rule of the Ukraine (1922-1991) this flag was banned, replaced with a number of predominantly red alternatives.
Let’s hope that the country can overcome the current Russian invasion and the blue and yellow flag will continue to fly its message of positivity and prosperity.
