Sophie Smallhorn is an artist and consultant with a practice in London, England. She works both two-dimensionally, creating limited series of silkscreen prints, and three dimensionally – with her geometric constructions. No matter the size, all of her pieces explore the relationship between colour, volume and proportion. The installation shown above, a commission for the retail clothier COS, stacks a variety of shapes that have the intensity and lusciousness of cake fondant. When asked about her work she explains, “I am interested as much in the shape of a component as I am in the voids created between them.” Smallhorn’s ability to create compelling colour combinations explains why architectural and retail clients alike seek her advice.
