You’re looking at the ceiling of the Miffy Museum in Utrecht, Netherlands. This kid friendly museum was designed by Amsterdam-based American architect Sherrie Zwall and is a tribute to the work of Dutch designer and illustrator Dick Bruna. You may not know the name Dick Bruna, but I bet you’ve seen one of his picture books featuring Miffy – a female rabbit who likes to draw. His books use simple, graphic line-work and a limited palette of bold, solid colours. During his lifetime Bruna produced over 120 books – selling, to date, a total of 85 million copies. This playful museum space, like Bruna’s books, is intended to place kids in a make-believe space and spark their imaginations.
